Training on NT Health's Electronic Medication Management Application (eMMa)

Platform: Articulate Storyline

Summary of project

Captovate recently completed a comprehensive project aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals in Northern Territory Health through a series of 35 modules. These modules were designed to educate nurses and doctors on efficiently entering patient data and prescribing medication using the newly implemented NT Health Electronic Medication Management Application, known as eMMa. The project's core focus was to utilise screen castings and provided instructions to create engaging, informative, and interactive eLearning content.

Outcomes and outputs

Captovate's eLearning modules for NT Health's eMMa implementation encompassed a range of educational materials and interactive components:

  1. Module Creation: The topics were broken down into various topics such as adminstrating medication, recording patient's height and weight and order medications through the Pharmacy. While the topics between the Doctor and Nurses modules were similar, they covered different details.
  2. Utilising Screen Castings: Screen castings formed the foundation of the training content. These recordings allowed learners to visualize the software's operation in real-world scenarios, enhancing their understanding of the application's functionality.
  3. Interactive Scenarios: Six modules incorporated interactive scenarios to reinforce learning. In these modules, learners actively replicated the processes they had been taught, using dynamic simulations. This hands-on approach facilitated a deeper comprehension of eMMa's operation.
  4. Step-by-Step Guidance: Throughout the interactive scenarios, learners were presented with specific clinical scenarios and were guided step-by-step through the process of entering patient data and prescribing medication. This mimicked real-world situations, preparing them for a seamless transition to the live environment.
  5. Visual Learning: The modules included visual aids, such as screenshots, to provide learners with clear, concise instructions and references during their training.

While the screencasts appear to be simple recordings, our developers bring an extra layer of skill to the table. They meticulously synchronise voice instructions to the interactions on the screen, creating well timed highlights and pop out features to draw the users attention to the area within the screen.
