Summary of project
Procurement NT commissioned Captovate to write and develop an eLearning course to operate within current Northern Territory Government systems and software, and educate public servants, about the fundamentals of government procurement in keeping with relevant legislation and regulation.
The objective of this project was to develop up to six (30 to 45 minute) whole-of-government procurement modules with the goal to:
- raise awareness of procurement across the NT public service;
- improve the understanding of procurement and related governance documents;
- deliver training in an engaging, interactive, informative and easy-to-understand format;
- remove the need for face-to-face training; and
- provide easily accessible training that can be reviewed by all NTG staff as and when required.
Outcomes and outputs
- Full content development including:
- working from face-to-face PowerPoint presentations;
- workshops with internal content experts; and
- summarising core legislation.
- Storyboarding and script writing
- Creating key avatars
- Developing the ‘videoscribe’ video - see example below
- Creating all the supportive graphics
- Procurement of talent and audio recording and editing
- Full Articulate Storyline development
- Designing and building the key activities
- Laying of sound, and matching the sound to transitions
- Outputting in the relevant format to play within the NTG Moodle platform.

Our goal is to create graphics and interactions that turn complex and dry content into concepts that are memorable and engaging. So, we developed different styles of learning activity to help refine the learner’s knowledge and create interactivity.
